The EU has one of the most open and transparent foreign direct investment (FDI) regimes in the world, making it one of the main destinations for FDI in the world. FDI stocks held by third-country investors in the EU therefore amount to around EUR 6.295 billion. Investing in the EU means access to a highly integrated single market, made up of 500 million consumers and investment opportunities.
